How it works

Click through each step to see exactly what you get when you sign up.

Step 01

Choose what you want to track

Who it’s for

From a single lab to a whole department.

Labs and PIs

A lab publication list nobody has to maintain

Add your members once. Every new paper by anyone in the lab lands on the list, with their names highlighted — no chasing students and postdocs for citations.

Departments and centers

Output across every member, in one place

Track dozens of faculty at once, with impact factors, top journals, citations and collaboration on one dashboard, and every member’s NIH grants alongside.

Research administrators

Reports that are right the first time

Tag, filter and export the record for an annual report, an external review or a grant renewal — and invite researchers to confirm their own publications so the list is agreed before it goes out.

When it earns its keep

For every time someone asks “what has the group produced?”

Institutional review

Report without the fire drill

Produce an accurate, agreed list of your unit’s output on demand — not after three weeks of email.

Grant renewal

Renew a center grant calmly

Pull every relevant publication and award across the team into one defensible portfolio.

Onboarding

Bring a new member up to speed

Their back catalogue and grants populate the shared view the day they’re added.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How do you find our group’s publications?

You give us your members’ names and affiliations. We search all of PubMed for their work and give every match a confidence score, drawing on name, affiliation and — where a paper carries one — ORCID iD. New publications are picked up automatically as PubMed indexes them.

What happens when two researchers share a name?

That is what the confidence score is for: a match on name alone scores lower than one corroborated by affiliation. You can review matches before they count, and you can invite each researcher to confirm their own publications with a free account, so the final list is one they have agreed to.

How do we add our members?

Import a spreadsheet — Excel or CSV — or enter members by hand. If a file has problems, such as missing fields or duplicate rows, you can fix them in the import dialog instead of editing the file and starting over.

Does it track NIH grants too?

Yes. Every member’s NIH grants are kept current from NIH RePORTER — project numbers, budgets and dates included — and collected in one place alongside the group’s publications.

Can we export the record for a report?

Yes. Narrow the list by tag or publication status, then export it as a CSV, an Excel workbook or a formatted Word document.

What does it cost?

Nothing right now. MyResearchFocus is in public beta, and there is nothing to pay — no credit card and no trial clock. If pricing is introduced after the beta, you will get plenty of notice first.
